Welcome Penelope Katherine!

Isn’t she lovely? Isn’t she wonderful? Stevie Wonder

She kept us all waiting but finally on January 24, shortly after midnight, Penelope Katherine made her entrance!

We are all so excited for Jess and John. Penelope is absolutely beautiful. In her little pink cap and wrapped in Grandma Jean’s blanket, she is the prettiest sight.

It’s been fourteen years (almost fifteen!) that my grandson Gavin was born. In that time he has grown so fast and provided us with so much joy. I am looking forward to many wonderful times ahead with both of my grandchildren. Michelene is already promising walks in the woods. I’m sure Jim will teach Penelope how to fix things. I will share some Greek recipes. It takes a village and we are all excited about spending time with Penelope.

We can’t wait until her other grandparents arrive to meet her. I’m sure Jess and John have been talking to them and sending pictures. We wish them safe travels as they come to share in our joy.

Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. We truly appreciate them!

One more thing! As if life isn’t exciting enough, after 8am CST this morning (9am EST & Pittsburgh time), I have a guest post on a blog called Lipstick and Laundry! It’s one of my favorite posts from Katherine’s Daughter. Click HERE to check it out. 🙂

It's nice to share. Thank you.

  1. Congratulations! Penelope is beautiful! I love that name. There is a book called Princess Penelope that both of my daughters loved (and still love) dearly. Enjoy your princess Penelope.

  2. She is lovely and wonderful!!! Congratulations, Joanne…what a beautiful baby. She looks very much like the infant I was taking care of in my dream this morning…it was a weird dream and I was trying to find a good place to put the infant so it would be safe. And the weird part was that it was able to communicate with me. Anyway, needless to say I awoke exhausted…much like little Penelope’s mother will be for a while. I think I know how you’ll be filling your days in the near future…enjoy it, dear one!

    Blessings to all of you,
    Marianne xoxo

    1. Marianne, What a beautiful dream! Maybe you knew this post was going to go up?! I’m sure Penelope’s mom will be tired for the next few weeks but her mom and I will both pitch in. It was a wonderful weekend despite the six or so inches of snow we got right before she was born! I know lots of people who received way more snow than we did! Thank you for your blessings, keep us in your thoughts and prayers! xo Joanne

  3. Hi Joanne, best of wishes for the “new blessing” in your family! Penelope looks so precious wrapped up in that blanket with those pretty flowers! She is going to fill a little empty spot in your heart that you never knew you had!

    1. I am so looking forward to getting to know the person she will become. I’m sure she will have lots of characteristics of both of her lovely parents. I bet she will be a nature girl and love the outdoors (and mud, etc!). Thank you for all of your support!

  4. Welcome, Penelope Katherine! You are so beautiful, and you bring such joy to a world in much need of joy. <3
Grandma Joanne, congratulations to you and your family. As my dad would have said, "She's a keeper!" 🙂

    1. Isn’t she beautiful? I am so in love with her Marylin. Thank you for being with me on this journey to her birth. I appreciate all of your heartfelt wishes and encouragement. xo Joanne
