A Night to Remember

Michelene looked Stunning!

Have you ever been in a time and place so unreal that you just needed to pinch yourself? Well, I have! It happened to me last Friday, when THE RECEPTION finally unfolded in Sewickley!

Nicole Michelene CuttingsAs I walked into Cuttings Flower and Garden that late afternoon, it was as if I entered Eden. All of my senses engaged as I stood in the entryway. The heavenly smell of cherry blossoms, spring flowers and wedding cake, the sight of beautiful embellishments, crystal chandeliers and amazing floral centerpieces were combined with a table set to knock your socks off. I lightly touched the delicate coral colored tulips (where have I ever seen those before?) and held my breath for a moment.

Table at Cuttings

My friend Jim, the owner of Cuttings, pulled out all the stops as he demonstrated the reason I have chosen him as my premier florist. He just knows what to do and does it. His creations are magnificent, his hands moved as if by grace.

And my models, AH, what can I say? They were stunning! Pampered and special, they looked beautiful, both my daughter Michelene (in my mother’s vintage dress) and Nicole in a lovely wedding gown by Glitter and Grit. I am eternally grateful to them (and every one of my business associates!) for devoting their evening to this special event.

Michelene looking upI had several high moments that night. The first one came relatively early, when a threesome of women walked in, spied my daughter in her gown and make up, carrying her bouquet of white roses, and literally dropped their jaws. I smiled and said something like “Gorgeous, isn’t she?” and they let loose with a barrage of delightful compliments.

Second, I saw a man and his wife later on in the evening whom I had not laid eyes on in years. The gentleman was one of my most loyal customers when I had my gourmet coffee shop in Sewickley twenty years ago. I recognized him immediately and introduced myself after all these years. He seemed genuinely moved and said “Oh Joanne! I am so glad to see you! Thank you for stopping me and saying hello!”

Thank you Michael!
Thank you Michael!

There were many other numerous glittery, happy moments. Our groom, Michael was such a personality and a good sport! He made conversation with EVERYONE and escorted the brides in a very noble manner. I get a smile on my face just thinking about Michael! He actually walked Michelene into town (they must have been such a sight!) and when it began to rain, ran her back to the store underneath the protection of my sister’s umbrella (Thank you Cally)!

Most of my business cards flew out the door that evening along with those of the other business vendors. If you want a full list of all the participants, just click for my events website HERE.

Was it a night to remember? Wow, you bet it was!

Many thanks to Joe Indovina, Jessica Lubert Photography and Erin of Glitter and Grit for these stunning photos!

  1. oh my goodness. Thank you for sharing such a magical night. I sort of had a hint it would be amazing with your light touch of grace all over it. Well done, my friend. Such a pretty thing to be a part of. The pictures are so pretty, your daughter stunning.
    Simply lovely.
    Thanks for sharing the goodness.
    Hugs, D

  2. How beautiful, Joanne! I could almost sniff the varied sweet fragrances. This is truly gracious and lovely. And the gown (worn by your daughter in the top picture) was your mother’s wedding gown? WOW!

    1. Yes, the gown worn by my daughter would be 60 years old this June! My mother was there that night which was a real treat….yes, just a wonderful, magical evening all the way around.
      xo Joanne

  3. Beautiful pictures! Michelene, is definitely a beautiful woman. When I first saw the pictures on Facebook, I seriously thought she had gotten married and you didn’t say anything! Ha ha! Then I thought about it for a moment and realized it must have been an “event”. The models looked fabulous and your mothers gown is breath taking! I am so happy things went well for you! You deserve it!

    1. Hi Cathy! I wondered if friends might have thought that of Michelene- that it was her wedding day! It was an event to remember and she said it was an amazing experience!
I keep plugging away at the writing and the event biz and just know that God is hugging me through it all….
      xo Joanne

  4. Utterly lovely, Joanne! I am so happy your event was a success, and you picked perfect models. Your mother’s dress is so beautiful on Michelene…I can just imagine the women’s jaws dropping. And there is nothing like finding the perfect people that can help make everything perfect.

A night to remember, indeed. I hope that the telephone lines become electric with excitement of your expertise, and your phone begins to sing a happy song of prosperity in every area.

    Blessings for more beautiful events,

    Marianne xo

    1. Marianne, I am hoping for the same thing- that the event will spark a thought in someone’s mind to call upon me to help with their wedding or event.
I am truly blessed to be able to do this at this point in my life. God will direct me I am sure of it….
      xo Joanne

  5. What an incredibly delightful post Joanne! Your writing as always is wonderful, especially that you helped ‘loose’ the barrage of compliments. Someone had to say something because they were ‘spellbound’. Your daughter is absolutely stunning in that vintage gown, and I’ll bet your mother looked amazing in it too. And the photo capturing your daughters smiling reflection is incredible! Beautifully done. All of this is. Thanks for sharing this glimpse into the loving world you help create with making special days all the more special for everyone involved. Bless your heart! love, Gina
